Bun Muen's horror game combines customer service with investigation. A visitor's appearance is only part of the evidence: questioning them and checking their paperwork can reveal a contradiction.
The danger comes from committing to a decision with incomplete information. The counter provides a routine, but suspicious customers make you reconsider what that routine is letting into the building.
How to Play Shift at Midnight
Meet each customer, read the available information, and compare their answers with the documents they present. Finish the checks relevant to that visitor before accepting their story.
Keep track of a specific discrepancy rather than relying on a vague feeling that someone looks unusual. A name, an answer, and a document should agree.
The original demo and later multiplayer release have different scopes. This introduction covers the customer-inspection premise and does not promise that a browser copy contains the later cooperative modes or every defensive feature.
